Since the discovery of Zhangzhou coastal volcanic geological landscape in the 1970s, its unique, rare and special volcanic geological landscape has aroused great interest and widespread concern of domestic and foreign experts and scholars.
In 1977, "East China volcanic rock conference" took it as the site scientific investigation base, and in 1981, "National Volcanic Rock conference" held in Zhangzhou also listed it as the first site investigation point.
After the active application of Fujian Provincial Department of land and resources, it was approved by the Ministry of land and resources to establish the National Geopark in March 2001
